Smart Veritas Delivers DP Capability Assessment of the Olympic Triton for Enshore Subsea

By Smart Veritas · 19 September 2026

Smart Veritas has completed a Level 2-Site dynamic positioning (DP) capability assessment of the DP2 vessel Olympic Triton for Enshore Subsea, turned around in just three days using the latest version of FlexDeck, our analysis tooling for OrcaFlex.

The assessment was carried out in accordance with DNV-ST-0111 to confirm the vessel's station-keeping capability ahead of an upcoming offshore wind campaign. Rather than relying on standard environmental criteria, a Level 2-Site assessment evaluates capability against the wave and tidal current conditions at the work site itself, giving the operator limits that reflect where the vessel will actually be working.

Our engineering team delivered the full assessment, from vessel drawings to final results:

  • Hydrodynamic modelling of the hull, built from the vessel lines plan, with mean wave drift loads derived from an OrcaWave diffraction analysis
  • Wind and current loading based on the vessel's projected areas
  • Thruster and power system modelling covering all five thrusters (two bow tunnel thrusters, a bow azimuth thruster and two contra-rotating stern azimuth thrusters), thruster interaction losses, and the vessel's four-generator, split-switchboard power arrangement
  • Worst-case failure assessment for the loss of either main switchboard, alongside the intact condition
  • Site-specific capability results giving the limiting one-hour wind speed on every heading at 10° resolution, with thrust and power utilisation for each case
DP capability plot for the Olympic Triton, showing the limiting wind speed on each heading for the intact condition and for the loss of either main switchboard

FlexDeck was central to the three-day turnaround. Its DP capability module brings the hull, thruster and power system definition, environmental loading and failure cases together in a single configuration, then solves the thrust allocation on every heading and generates the capability plots, utilisation tables and report-ready Excel output automatically. With the vessel model built once, intact and failure cases can be checked and re-run quickly as inputs are refined, keeping engineering time focused on the judgement calls rather than on manual post-processing.

All work was delivered under our ISO 9001 certified management system.

This project continues our engineering support for Enshore Subsea and shows how FlexDeck lets us deliver rigorous, standards-based analysis on the short timescales that offshore operations demand.
