MOORING & DP CAPABILITY ANALYSIS
Mooring & DP Capability Analysis
Mooring analysis, anchor design, DP capability studies, and station keeping assessments for offshore operations.
Smart Veritas provides station keeping analysis for vessels and floating structures operating in offshore environments. Our analysis covers both moored and dynamically positioned operations and is performed to rigorous DNV codes and standards: DNV-ST-N001, DNV-OS-E301, and DNV-ST-0111.
Mooring Analysis
We perform detailed quayside, offshore, and in-place mooring analyses for construction vessels, installation vessels, accommodation units, and floating production systems. Our work includes anchor pattern design, line tension calculations, midline buoy specifications for crossings, vessel excursion assessments, and environmental load analysis for ULS and ALS conditions. Through FlexDeck and our proprietary mooring pattern builder and pre-tension optimiser, we can generate base cases in minutes rather than hours.
Anchor Pattern Optimisation
Where required, we can optimise anchor spread patterns for installation vessels, construction vessels, and floating units to minimise seabed footprint (optimised CAPEX) or reducing anchor handling time (improved OPEX). Our analysis accounts for site-specific metocean conditions, soil properties, and operational requirements to deliver efficient, fit-for-purpose anchor layouts.
Quayside Mooring Assessments
We assess mooring arrangements for vessels alongside quaysides, jetties, and floating infrastructure. Our analysis covers bollard loading, fender reaction forces through time-domain analysis, environmental load combinations, and compliance with OCIMF and port authority requirements to ensure safe berthing under operational and extreme conditions for both ULS and ALS conditions.
DP Capability Studies
For dynamically positioned vessels, we perform Level 1 and Level 2 DP capability assessments under specified environmental conditions. Our studies determine the limiting environmental envelope for critical operations and identify the worst-case failure modes for thruster redundancy. Level 3 time-domain DP assessments are coming soon.
