Visual inspection examines product forms including welds, machined components, castings, and forgings before, during, and after welding operations. Our inspectors observe surfaces to evaluate discontinuities such as corrosion, misalignment, physical damage, and cracks.
Weld Inspection
We perform visual inspection of welds to identify cracks, porosity, unfilled craters, undercut, and incomplete fusion. Our inspectors assess weld size, profile, and appearance against code requirements and project specifications throughout all stages of fabrication.
Machined Components
We inspect machined surfaces for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and visible defects. Inspections may be conducted through direct observation or using optical aids including magnifying glasses, mirrors, borescopes, and computer-assisted viewing systems.
Castings & Forgings
We examine castings and forgings for surface discontinuities including cracks, laps, seams, and porosity. Our visual assessments support acceptance decisions prior to further NDT or machining operations.
Corrosion Assessment
We assess in-service components for corrosion damage, pitting, erosion, and general metal loss. Our inspections identify areas requiring further investigation by ultrasonic thickness measurement or other NDT methods.
Dimensional Checks
We perform dimensional verification of weld size characteristics, joint fit-up, and component geometry. Our checks confirm compliance with fabrication tolerances and drawing requirements.
