Smart Veritas provided comprehensive export cable engineering support for the Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm on behalf of Enshore Subsea Ltd, delivering analysis and procedures across the full installation campaign.

Our engineering team delivered across every phase of the export cable installation, from quayside operations through to cable burial:

  • Hydrodynamic analysis for the cable lay vessel, including vessel motion response and RAO development
  • Quayside mooring analysis for load-out operations at the Port of Blyth, covering mooring configuration design, ULS and ALS analysis for multiple tidal conditions, and workability assessment in accordance with OCIMF MEG4 and DNV-ST-N001
  • Cable transpooling and load-out — transient OrcaFlex analysis with reaction time modelling
  • Cable lay analysis including on-bottom stability, lay tension sensitivity, and full workability analysis for multiple water depths representing lay across the route
  • Pull-in analysis for both the offshore substation first end and landfall shore pull-in, including transient OrcaFlex modelling, winch capacity verification, float/buoyancy specification and contingency assessments
  • Cable jointing including jointing vessel layout design and equipment specification, recovery, jointing and overboarding engineering and analysis, and offshore Project Engineer and Offshore Manager secondment aboard the North Sea Giant
  • Trencher and CFE deployment analysis covering full transient deployment and recovery modelling

All work was performed in accordance with DNV-ST-N001, delivered under our ISO 9001 certified management system.
