QHSE Policy
Last updated: 1 October 2026
Document Ref: SV2023-006-GENC-ORG-0012-03
This policy applies to Smart Veritas B.V. and Smart Veritas Ltd, to all of their activities and work locations, including work at client sites, and to every employee and every contractor working under Smart Veritas direction. It is the policy of the integrated management system that Smart Veritas maintains to ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and VCA**.
Smart Veritas strives to ensure accurate and timely delivery of services which continuously meet and exceed customer and ISO 9001 requirements, and continually improves its processes to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Smart Veritas is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for all of its employees, contractors, clients and visitors, and considers the provision of such an environment to be as important as its other business objectives. No job is so important that it cannot be done safely.
Our Commitments
To achieve this, Smart Veritas' management commits to:
- Meet and exceed client quality requirements and expectations.
- Provide safe and healthy working conditions for the prevention of work-related injury and ill health, appropriate to the nature of our work and its risks.
- Prevent injury to people and damage to materials, equipment, property and the environment.
- Eliminate hazards and reduce occupational health and safety (OH&S) risks, applying controls at the source of the hazard in preference to collective and personal protective measures.
- Fulfil the legal requirements and other requirements that apply to our work, in the Netherlands, in the United Kingdom and in every other country where we work, including the SHE and quality requirements of our clients.
- Provide a framework for setting and reviewing quality and OH&S objectives, which are set each year at the management review and are consistent with this policy.
- Continually improve the management system and our quality and SHE performance.
- Consult workers and, where they exist, workers' representatives, and enable their participation in decisions on SHE.
- Provide all employees with the knowledge, training and tools to meet the quality and SHE targets, and support continuous learning and personal improvement.
- Act with integrity and impartiality, in line with the Code of Ethics: inspection, testing and assessment results and decisions rest on objective evidence and are not influenced by commercial, financial or other pressures, and conflicts of interest are identified, recorded and managed before and during the work.
- Keep confidential the information obtained or produced in the course of work for clients, release it only with the client's agreement or where the law requires it, informing the client unless the law prohibits it, and require employees and contractors to do the same.
- Require every contractor working for Smart Veritas to work to these standards.
Right to Stop Work
Every worker has the right to stop work and to remove themselves from a work situation that they reasonably believe presents an imminent and serious danger to life or health, and reports it to the operational supervisor. No worker is disadvantaged for stopping work, raising a SHE concern or reporting an accident, incident, near miss or unsafe situation.
Responsibility
The ultimate responsibility for this policy, for the management system and for the resources needed to achieve it lies with the statutory directors. Every employee and contractor is expected to take a proactive role: follow the safety rules, the TRA and the LMRA, use the required protective equipment, use only sound equipment for which they are competent, report accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe situations, and propose improvements.
Communication and Review
This policy is explained to every employee and contractor at induction, announced at a toolbox meeting on issue and repeated at toolbox meetings at least once a year, and is available in the QSHE folder and to clients and other interested parties on request. The statutory directors review it at each management review and evaluate it, after consultation of workers, at least every three years.
